Indonesian Gamelan Degung and Shadow Puppet Making Workshops
About
1 Hour – All Ages – Try One or Explore Both!Step into the enchanting world of Sundanese arts with this hands-on, one-hour workshop! Discover the hypnotic sounds of Gamelan Degung, a traditional Indonesian ensemble of tuned gongs and metallophones. Try your hand at playing these beautiful instruments and experience the joy of communal music-making.
At the same time, get crafty with our Cardboard Wayang (Shadow Puppet) Making workshop! Construct your own puppet inspired by the ancient Indonesian storytelling tradition of Wayang Kulit, then bring it to life behind the screen.
Choose one experience—or move between both! No experience needed—just curiosity and creativity.
Our festival is made possible through the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cassowary Coast Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Dangiang Sunda also thanks Mission Arts for their support of the project.
