Cosmic Dance of Shiva Yoga and Chhau Dance Workshop
About
Cosmic Dance of ShivaYoga and Chhau Dance Workshop
Journey into the Cosmic Dance of Shiva, a workshop that weaves together Yoga and Chhau dance with Yogeshwari Giri.
Chhau—a tribal martial dance from eastern India—is a vibrant and athletic art form that channels raw, primal energy through fluid, dynamic movement. Unlike the lyrical and refined gestures of Indian classical dance, Chhau pulses with vigor, vitality, and a deep connection to nature and mythology. Its expressive vocabulary blends grace with grounded power, celebrating both the earthly and the divine.
This workshop includes:
* Yoga and body conditioning to prepare and awaken the body
* Sword dance movements and foundational Chhau steps
* The Dance of Shiva (Shiva Tandava) — exploring both the philosophy of Shiva’s cosmic dance and its embodied expression through movement
What to bring: Water • Towel • Comfortable clothes for movement
No prior experience is required to attend this workshop. Everyone is welcome to work at their own pace and capacity.
