This workshop provides an overview of trauma informed care/practice and not specific trauma therapy. It is suitable for all health professionals working directly with people.Content:
• Defining trauma & trauma informed care
• Trauma and the brain, memory, & thinking
• Supporting people with trauma backgrounds
• Trauma informed approaches to disclosure
• Vicarious trauma and self-care strategies
The Facilitators:
Darlene Cole - Social Work Discipline Lead. Darlene is an experienced Senior Mental Health Social Worker with more than 12 years' experience in public mental health services. Darlene is the Social Work Discipline Lead at Grampians Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.
Ann Mennen - Clinical Nurse Educator. Ann has over 30 years nursing experience in public mental health services in bed-based areas and education roles. Ann is the Clinical Nurse Educator who co-ordinates and facilities the Safety Interventions/OVA program at Grampians Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.
Resources will be provided. Please bring own food and drink.
