Athletics National Schools Challenge - Melbourne
About
What is the National Schools Challenge? This is a team-based national competition for schools (not states), featuring Junior U15, Intermediate U17, and Senior U19 divisions. Events include sprints, middle distance, jumps, throws, and sprint medleys – all contributing points toward the school’s overall score. It’s held the day after the Australian All Schools Championships, creating a high-energy, team-focused environment for the country’s best junior athletes.
Over the past two years, Barker has had three male teams qualify, competing in Perth and Brisbane. Following the strong performances of our boys’ teams, we have now been offered the opportunity to take three male teams and two female teams this year.
I am particularly excited our two female teams, making their debut against the best schools in the nation for the first time at a National level. This will be an amazing opportunity for the students to demonstrate their talents on a national stage.
