November Bottle Club
About
The BC theme this month is ‘Geelong’ (Geelong Wine Show Month) - reds or whites - with 3 years minimum bottle age for reds.Back in the nineteenth century Geelong was one of Australia’s leading wine regions with many established vineyards totalling around 1000 acres in area which has only been exceeded again in recent times! Most plantings back then were spread across the Barrabool Hills and through to German Town (Grovedale) planted in the main by Swiss immigrants. During the 1870’s the dreaded Phylloxera louse was responsible for the demise of the local industry and then followed a hiatus of nearly 100 years before it all started again!
Today there are so many wonderful producers in the greater Geelong area and once again it is recognised as an ultra premium wine region.
So, dig your favourite Geelong tipple out of the cellar or seek one out at your local purveyor and join members and guests at the BC table for a celebration of Geelong vinuosity, paired with a stunning luncheon prepared by our esteemed Club chef Andrew!
Cheers,
Convenor Shane
