We are excited to continue our service and learning opportunity in Warren for Year 9 Students in 2025. Nine Year 9 students have been selected to travel to the rural NSW town of Warren to engage with the local community, understand life in country NSW and to serve at Warren Central School.
The aims of this program are:
• For students to learn about the strengths, opportunities and needs of rural towns, and in doing so, gain empathy and compassion for those who have less access to resources than themselves.
• For students to authentically serve the Warren community, both in the preparation for the trip and in the service they will offer whilst they are there.
• For students to develop collaboration and communication skills, as well as encouraging risk-taking and open-mindedness.
The Trip takes the form of:
• Depart Saturday 6/12 at 8am, Return Thursday 11/12 at approx. 4pm.
• Travel by Tara Coach.
• Stay in “indoor camping” style accommodation in an AirBnB. The students will sleep in swags or stretchers in a secure indoor environment with access to indoor bathrooms. Tara Students and staff are the only people who will be staying in the accommodation.
• Students will spend two full days at Warren Central School, assisting with classrooms and running games and activities as well as engaging in the life of the town, including the Church on Sunday and an art class with a local artist.
• Students will be accompanied by three Tara Staff Members: Stephanie Griffiths, Director of Student Wellbeing, Lena Jung, Year 9 Coordinator and Fiona Isaacs, School Chaplain.
