Parent Workshop: Social Media Ban
About
The Social Media Ban & Keeping Your Kids Safe Online - Parent Information SessionSocial media and screen time are some of the biggest challenges families are facing today. With the social media ban for under-16s starting on 10 December 2025, many parents still have no idea what’s coming or how it will impact your family. This session is designed to give you the information and tools you need to confidently support your kids through this change by unpacking what the social media ban is, why it’s being introduced, and how it’s going to work.
You’ll walk away with practical strategies to encourage healthy tech habits at home, manage screen time during school terms and holidays, and have open, constructive conversations with your kids about social media, gaming, and online behaviour. We’ll also explore how to keep your children safe from harmful or inappropriate content, and how to respond to challenges like cyberbullying.
The session is facilitated by Paris McNeil, a lawyer and online safety educator who has worked with thousands of students, parents and teachers across Australia on topics including cyber-safety, digital wellbeing, resilience and critical thinking. Paris is a trusted voice on the social media ban and as a Gen Z herself, is known for her practical, relatable presentation style.
This session is targeted specifically at parents and guardians. Students will receive a session at school.
