Christmas in The Park - River Downs Neighbourhood Watch
About
Get ready to roll out of bed, grab the kids and head down to River Downs Neighbourhood Watch’s Christmas in the Park because this year it is a big community morning out. We are hosting it on Sunday, 7 December 2025, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, when the weather is beautiful and the energy levels are high. Whether you have lived here since the first stage of the development or you have only recently learned your street name, you are part of this neighbourhood, and we want you there. Think of it as a relaxed way to kick off the Christmas season, with the bonus of not needing to cook breakfast or plan anything for the kids to do. It is a chance to meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones, brag about how early you put up your Christmas lights, or simply enjoy a morning where the whole family is entertained and you do not have to reach for your wallet every five minutes.Kids are going to have a huge morning. As soon as they arrive, they can get their faces painted into whatever they are obsessed with this week, then take a turn on a friendly donkey ride that will probably become the photo of the year in your family group chat. The reptile adventure is perfect for the kids who love a bit of wild and weird. There will be handlers who actually know what they are doing, so parents do not need to panic when someone decides the snake looks cute. We are bringing back Christmas crafts because it turns even the grumpiest morning person into someone who proudly displays glitter on their fridge. Santa is dropping by, too. He is not waiting until dark this year. He wanted to see what River Downs looks like in the daylight, and he is taking letters and handing out smiles well before lunchtime. There will be Santa stockings to take home and a Christmas piñata smash to burn off that sugar rush everyone is pretending they will avoid but absolutely will not.
Speaking of sugar rush, the treats are sorted. Snow cones, fairy floss and popcorn are all free for everyone. Zero cost. Zero guilt. It is Christmas after all. And while that covers snacks very nicely, breakfast is sorted too. Our barbecue crew will be serving egg and bacon rolls with a drink for just five dollars, and that includes a bonus raffle ticket. That means you can feed the family and still have a shot at winning something fun later in the morning. On top of that, the Christmas Raffle will have great prizes, and the Guess the Lolly Jar competition will give kids and grown-ups the chance to argue politely about who has the better estimating skills. Someone always claims they were only one off. We will let the jar and the judge decide.
We are keeping this event friendly, simple and stress-free. The only thing we ask is that you pre-register everyone who is coming. It takes you about one minute, but it saves us a whole lot of guessing and makes sure we have enough food, craft supplies and activities to go around. Bring a picnic rug or a couple of folding chairs, wear sunscreen, pack a hat, bring the grandparents, invite a neighbour who could use a nice morning and settle in. You can wander around checking out everything at your own pace, sit back while the kids race from one activity to the next or join in the fun yourself. There is no wrong way to enjoy a relaxed Christmas morning in the park.
River Downs is a great place to live because of the people who call it home. This event is our chance to celebrate that. So mark the date, set your alarm, and come along ready to enjoy the sunshine, the laughs and the company. We cannot wait to see the park buzzing with families enjoying the morning together. It is going to be fun, it is going to be loud, and it is going to be one of those days where you head home feeling glad you showed up.
Registrations close 4 December at 11.59 pm. Raffle tickets and Lolly Jar Guesses can be purchased up to and on the day. Lolly Jar Guess winner will be announced on Monday, 8 December 2025.
