Studio Foundation
Studio Foundation is a comprehensive, guided course to support you in developing a self-sufficient studio practice. Over 8 weeks you will learn the ceramic theory and processes essential to establishing an independent ceramic studio practice. Through hands-on group research we will help you develop an understanding of ceramic materials (clay, slip and glaze), hand forming techniques, surface treatments, kiln maintenance and firing, as well as studio and clay management practices. We will also introduce methods for creative research and idea generation to help develop your individual creative practice. If you are considering joining SoCA's Studio Program, the course provides a great introduction to the breadth of learning covered and a thorough and practical foundation of knowledge on which to build. This course is designed as a comprehensive, guided overview of everything you need to know to confidently work in a ceramic studio.
