Climate Smart Innovation in the Central West Conference
Climate Smart Innovations will be held in the central west town of Cowra which straddles the Lachlan River and is reliant on the valley's strong agricultural base. Well known for prime lamb and vealer production, the soil types, usually reliable rainfall and abundant irrigation water have brought a range of primary industries to the area, including: viticulture, dairying, fresh vegetables, lucerne hay, poultry egg production, broadacre grain and oilseeds.
This dynamic conference will highlight how the region has and continues to build an inventive future based on agricultural, environmental and conservation advancements. It will incorporate a variety of outstanding speakers, workshops and tours showcasing the regions latest innovations in response to climate adaption research and provide the opportunity to sample the amazing local produce.
Tours and Workshops
*All tours and workshops will take place on Thursday the 19th of April and are included in the ticket price unless attending the ‘Splash’ Workshop only and not the conference, then a separate ticket must be purchased, as detailed below in the tickets section.
Splash - Living Waterways Framework Workshop - 9:00am to 4:00pm
This workshop embodies the elements of liveability, resilience, sustainability and productivity. It provides participants with skills to identify good environmental outcomes through good design, Indentify best practice design options and promote collaborative thinking for design solutions for water sensitive urban design strategies. It gives local government planners insight on how the program can be incorporated into Development Control Plans.
Wine & Forage - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Enjoy a scenic trip Coached around some of Cowra’s great wine region, stopping at 3 local wineries / producers, sampling their fine food and wine. Tours depart and return at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. Lunch included. More information available soon.
Moxey Farms - 9:30am - 1:00pm
Travel to Moxey Farms by Coach, only 30 mins out of town. Take a tour of their new bio-digester and sustainable farm. www.moxeyfarms.com.au
