Pilates by Webinar
27 October to 1 December 2021 (6 classes)
Wednesdays, 10.00am - 10.45am
Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise initially developed by Joseph Pilates almost 100 years ago. Today, Pilates is used as both an everyday exercise regime, and as a tool in the health industry to assist in physical rehabilitation from injury or illness. You can experience many different types of Pilates classes, but all apply the same principles to encourage correct and efficient movement patterns to assist with everyday functioning. It has a strong focus on strength and stability, while also developing your mobility and balance. It can help improve posture, and increase body awareness and control.
A clinical trial has examined whether Pilates might be a beneficial form of exercise for people with MS. The trial found that the participants who took part in Pilates had significant improvements in their walking performance and functional ability: Impact of Pilates Exercise in Multiple Sclerosis
THE PROGRAM
This six-week program is presented by Jess Mason. Jess is a qualified osteopath and has been practicing pilates for over 5 years. In 2018, Jess gained her Pilates Instructor qualification with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Insititute and has been teaching group and individual classes ever since. Jess believes Pilates is a great form of exercise because it is focuses not only on strength and stability, but also on mobility, balance, and control, providing a well-rounded program. It is also adaptable to everyone, and can be performed with no equipment which makes it accessible and easy to get involved in.
As an osteopath as well as a Pilates instructor, Jess is very passionate about educating people and providing them with the tools to better improve their health and wellness.
