PRIVACY INFORMATION COLLECTION STATEMENT 

Context: The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (the Department) through the Australian Space Agency hosts visitor events for the public at the Australian Space Discovery Centre (ASDC).

Personal Information: In the course of conducting these events we will be collecting your personal information, namely:

1. Your name,
2. Physical address,
3. contact telephone number,
4. email address, and
5. age range

The Department will handle your personal information in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Purpose: to allow members of the public and school groups to register, book and purchase tickets for and attend events held at the Australian Space Discovery Centre.

Use of Personal Information: Your personal information will be used for the purpose described above which includes registering your attendance at events, issuing ticket and venue information to you, contacting you for event feedback, and use in internal Department reports.

TryBooking: The Department uses Trybooking Pty Ltd (Trybooking), an on-line booking and ticketing platform provider, to facilitate your ticket purchase, issue ticket information and event registration. For school group bookings the department provides the booking information to Try Booking When you purchase an individual ticket Trybooking will collect your personal information on the department’s behalf and provide this information to the Department when the Department checks your attendance on arrival at the event and any feedback following the event.

The Trybooking ticketing system is hosted in Australia and uses Amazon Web Services to store your personal information. You can access the TryBooking Privacy Policy at https://www.trybooking.com/info/privacy.

If we were unable to collect your personal information we may not be able to register you and you or your school may not be permitted to attend an ASDC event.

Disclosure of Personal Information: Your personal information may be disclosed by us to Trybooking Pty Ltd; other Commonwealth and State Government Agencies for the purposes of contact tracing during the Covid 19 pandemic; and participating partners supporting the event

Your personal information will not otherwise be used or disclosed without your prior consent except where authorised or required by law.

It outlines how you may access your personal information it holds and seek the correction of it. The policy also provides the Department’s contact details, information on how an individual may complain about a breach of the APPs and how the complaint will be dealt with.
