For a boy who's six(ty)! - Darryl Coote's birthday recital
Three favourite musician friends - Anne Gilby (oboe), Sally-Anne Russell (mezzo-soprano) and Rohan de Korte (cello) - join pianist Darryl Coote in this special recital celebrating his 60th birthday. Commencing with canapés in the Rippon Lea ballroom at 5.45pm, the recital proper begins at 6.30pm and features Poulenc’s vibrant oboe Sonata, Beethoven’s wonderfully lyrical cello Sonata in A major, Elgar’s lush Sea Pictures, Margaret Sutherland’s brilliantly quirky oboe Sonatina, plus Australian composer Noel Fidge's The Farmer's Daughter arranged especially, on this occasion, for all four performers.

The canapé refreshments are included in the ticket price ($80) and there is a specially discounted ticket price ($60) for current financial members of the Friends of the Team of Pianists (FOTOPS). This event is part of the Team’s C & C Rigg Bequest Classic Music in Historic Venues 2023 series.
