Mister Ott
Fronted by acclaimed saxophonist Matthew Ottignon, local outfit Mister Ott exhibits a strong ‘Ethiojazz’ influence as cultivated by musicians like Mulatu Astatke and Getatchew Mekurya.
Ottignon’s band marries mesmerising eastern sounds and hypnotic dance grooves with groove-heavy funk. The band’s first album ‘Drop It Like It’s Ott’ - a high caliber instrumental record that crosses world music with jazz, funk and Ethiopian music - was released in April 2015.
