The musical production VOYAGE (as part of the Good Girl Project) features the songwriting & singing of Lake School ukulele tutor, Helen Begley

The story begins on the pier at Gravesend & moves shipboard between England & Sydney. Three young women are pushed through the migration process & the experience of life aboard an immigration boat. All hoping for a better life in Australia at the end of their voyage.

The little known story is based on the academic work of Liz Rushen & bought to life by songwriter Helen Begley with original songs & a script devised from eyewitness accounts from the 1830’s. The work is currently performed by Penny Larkins (vocals), Penelope Swales ( whistles & vocals) Jamie Molloy (concertina & vocals) Helen Begley (guitar & vocals)

We hope you appreciate these changes and give us feedback at regarding the better running of the school on our survey monkey at the end of the week, or at any appropriate time.

Please also note there are significant changes to making bookings for camping at the Koroit and Tower Hill Caravan Park. The bookings will be managed by Linda Edwards in Port Fairy. Please make sure you let Linda know you want to book for Lake School in Koroit.

If you are new to Lake School the following guidelines have been helpful to students in the past

  1. Read over the program - link below
  2. Check class times to ensure they don't clash
  3. Don't take on too much - 2 classes is enough
  4. The class you book into will run each day for the whole week, with each day building from the previous day. It is therefore not possible to change classes day to day - we are a school. At the end of the week we have a Big Hooley & a Grande Ceilidh which are like a show & tell of what you have learn over the week. Non school students will be expected to pay a $10 entry fee at the door.
  5. If you are unsure about your suitability for a class, please consult with the School Director - Felix Meagher
  6. Bring your instrument
  7. Some classes take absolute beginners whilst others beginners will be expected to have basic playing of notes & scales skill- Vintage Beginners is a great help
  8. Classes will start on the first day following checking in.

Classes will be limited to maximum numbers and once reached the class will be closed to further enrolment.

We would discourage double booking of classes, please choose your preferred class for the year. There is always next year to fit in a different class and of course there are the slow sessions.

You cannot book your seat at the Ceilidh's on this booking site. You MUST book for the Ceilidh's at the Lake School Office keeping in mind if you are on stage that night so as most people get a turn downstairs

All others attending the Ceilidh’s will be required to take a place upstairs on the balcony.

PLEASE take the time to read the program in order to understand the changes and booking options.
