Thomas More College's 2018 Production of Mary Poppins is an adaptation of the 2004 Disney Broadway Show by Cameron Mackintosh and Thomas Schumacher. Combining material from P.L Travers original books and the successful 1964 Disney movie, this Mary Poppins takes the spotlight as a re-envisioned character. She sings, she dances, and she takes flight into our hearts. Magical moments from the books find their manifestations through expanded songs and extraordinary dance. By teaching the children to open their awareness to the joy and hardships of others, she is able to help them teach their parents a lesson about what is most important in life. She opens a world of possibility where "anything can happen if you let it.".
The 2018 TMC production of Mary Poppins will feature all the original cast complete with the award-winning songs by Richard and Robert Sherman. All direction and design choices have aimed to ensure audience members are able to identify strongly with this iconic and timeless work that they know and love.
At the core of all the incredible stage spectacle is a simple story about the coming together of a family. It is this emotional centre, along with Mary's magic, that allows these characters to transcend generations across books, film, and theatrical productions.
