Australian Heritage Festival 2019 - 18 April to 19 May
Joining the Dots - Family Oral Histories
and delving into the Archives
As part of Australian Heritage Festival 2019 from 18 April to 19 May, Bayside Library Service has organised this event, Joining the dots - family oral histories and delving into the archives.
Julie Spring is the great granddaughter of the journalist and historian, John Butler Cooper (JBC).
Fascintated by the stories recounted by her grandmother about her great grandfather and his intimate knowledge of the renowned 19th century journalist, The Vagabond, Julie reconstructed JBC's early life through historical archival research and international and local collaborations. Her research resulted in a Chapter contribution for Michael Cannon's latest work about the Vagabond. This presentation is the story of her research journey.
