Workshops are suitable for high school students from Years 10-11, with additional workshops for younger participants aged 8-14 years.
Ecological walk and create (with Maria Ignatieva) Tuesday 9 July 2.00pm-5.00pm. For ages 15+ years
What big ideas and practical solutions do our cities need to be sustainable and attractive places for us in the future? Take part in this workshop to experience the key role of the landscape architect in designing our environments. The session will include a walk around the University campus. It will proceed in rain, but if thunderstorms are forecast this will be cancelled and refunded.
Drawing Foundations: new ways of seeing (with Andy Quilty) Wednesday 10 July 9.30am -12.00pm. For ages 8-14 years
Build a confident and intuitive approach to drawing. Award-winning artist Andy Quilty will help participants develop fundamental skills and explore new ways of seeing.
Build Mega (with Sophie Giles) Wednesday 10 July 1.00pm-3.00pm. For ages 8-14 years
Join architect Sophie Giles as we explore mega-scale architecture and engineering, building a dense ‘city of the future’ in two hours. The session will include rapid prototyping and model making across a range of materials to test the slenderness ratio and material properties in making tall structures. All materials are supplied.
Experimental drawing: expanded approaches (with Andy Quilty) Wednesday 10 July 1.00pm-4.30pm. For ages 15+ years
Explore the possibilities of what drawing can be through a range of experimental drawing processes including drawing extensions, sound drawing and multisensory figurative drawing.
Independent Comic Art (with Christopher Markle) Thursday 11 July 9.30am-1.00pm. For ages 15+ years
Telling a story is something everyone can do – visualising it is another thing altogether. This workshop will introduce the essentials to creating visual storytelling in a comic format.
