Spin cotton with the Takli and Charkha

This is part of FibreFest 2019. This full-day workshop introduces spinning cotton with the takli, an Indian-style support spindle and then the charkha, a portable Indian spinning wheel. Learn how to card natural and dyed fibres to create punis, a cotton fibre preparation. Spin Australian cotton from the seed, punis and hand-spinner's silver. Ply 'singles' with takli and charkha. The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in spinning thread or yarn. No spinning experience necessary.
