UWA Conservatorium of Music - Auditions for 2021 Entry
Students looking to undertake the Bachelor of Music or Music General Studies major at UWA are required to undertake an audition.
Students taking the Electronic Music and Sound Design major are not required to audition.
Our main audition days are
- Monday 6 July 2020
- Sunday 20 September 2020
- Sunday 22 November 2020
- Ad hoc auditions can also be arranged
Please be reminded that although the standard entry requirement for UWA is an ATAR of 80, students who complete a successful audition are eligible for entry with an ATAR of 75.
PREPARING FOR YOUR UWA AUDITION
Bachelor of Music – Performance / Musicology and Studio Teaching Streams
- Prepare for audition 2 contrasting pieces
- Required performance standard is around AMEB Grade 7
- Short aural test (undertaken at audition – example here)
Bachelor of Music – Composition Stream
- Prepare for audition 2 contrasting pieces
- Required performance standard is around AMEB Grade 5
- Submission of a folio of your own compositions (approx. 3 pieces of varying styles), include scores and recordings/midi files if possible
- Short aural test (undertaken at audition – example here)
Bachelor of Music – Creative Music Technology Streams
- Prepare for audition 1 piece (can be recorded submission e.g. if you play in a band)
- Required performance standard is around AMEB Grade 4
- Submission of a folio of your own works (compositions, tracks or works you have produced)
- Short aural test and music theory diagnostic (undertaken at audition – example of aural test here)
Music General Studies (2nd) Major
- Prepare for audition 2 contrasting pieces
- Required performance standard is around AMEB Grade 5
Music Studies (1st) Major
- Prepare for audition 2 contrasting pieces
- Required performance standard is around AMEB Grade 5

APPLYING TO UWA
In addition to the audition, all applicants must apply to UWA.
Domestic students should apply via TISC or for Early Offers in response to the COVID-19 situation, apply HERE (using your Year 11 ATAR results)
