We’re delighted to host virtuoso guitarist Matthew Fagan and flamenco dancer Laura Uhe in the Chapel at Unitingqueenscliff on Sunday 20 March, 2022
ESPAÑA EL VITO THE SPIRIT OF SPAIN! Crowds have enjoyed previous concerts here with the extraordinary Matthew Fagan playing classical and Spanish guitar. This time he returns with flamenco dancer Laura Uhe. Together they will bring the beautiful chapel at Unitingqueenscliff alive in a special and unique way.
Internationally renowned 10-string virtuoso guitarist Matthew Fagan who has toured with The Buena Vista Social club and Billy Connolly AND flamenco dancer Laura Uhe who has danced with Opera Australia, Vic Opera and The Antonio Vargas Flamenco Dance Theatre Company, combine musical passion and dance in an exciting innovative new performance.
Matthew infuses the exhilarating traditional flamenco elements of Spanish guitar with classical masterworks of Rodrigo, De Falla, Albeniz, Granados and more, in stunning new arrangements accompanied with Laura’s unique fusion of flamenco and classical dance, and traditional flamenco dance featuring palmas (hand clapping) the use of Shawl, Fan and Castanets.
Matthew also performs the colourful and rhythmic sounds of South American classical masterpieces and his rendition of Bach’s Toccata which featured on ABC TV.
Laura and Matthew share their rich historical background of the music and dance ...and there may even be a chance to learn some flamenco dance moves and song!
The duo capture the raw, authentic combination of flamenco dance and guitar, creating an intimate connection with the audience through their superb technical ability and emotionally fiery execution.
