Meet Mary Lee | Floortalk

Meet Mary Lee | Floortalk

On 18 December 1894 a landmark legislation enabled women in South Australia – for the first time anywhere in Australia – to vote in general elections, and to stand as members of Parliament – a first in the world.

This incredible achievement was the end result of years of campaigning, letter writing, signature gathering and lobbying by men and women in the South Australian community that put their passion into action.

Join us for a floor talk about Mary Lee and her tireless campaigning to achieve this monumental legislation.  Learn about her life here in Adelaide and what her contributions were during the years fighting for the rights of women to have the vote.
