Somatic Psychotherapy and Theories on Psychosomatic Illness

SOMATIC PSYCHOTHERAPY & THEORIES ON PSYCHOSOMATIC ILLNESS

A major shift has occurred within psychology in the past decade, because of the neuroscience and due to new insights about the impact of trauma. It looks like we have moved from the recent wave of mindfulness-based interventions towards embodiment and somatic techniques.

This talk will give an overview of where we are at currently in understanding psychosomatic illness, and how the evolution of our understanding about trauma, has opened up new transpersonal frontiers, with major metaphysical questions now needing to be confronted.

The class will entail a presentation, a powerful trauma and stress release exercise, so do come wearing comfortable clothes.
The class will then end with a showing of the documentary "The Dawn Wall",
the unbelievable story of perseverance, about two free climbers attempting to scale the impossible.
