Building personal brand, a network of advocates and your own board of directors.

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Session Overview :
This session will entail key information about personal brand, and the significant impact this can have on how others perceive you and your ability to build connections. We will hear from a highly accomplished panel about their journey in lifesaving and the tools and strategies they have used to connect and navigate their way through the various roles that they have held. We would learn about what it means to have supporters and a network or advocates and how this is different from a Board of Directors.
The session will conclude with a workshop connecting you to likeminded people, either through various roles/responsibilities, or perceived challenges or opportunities/vision.
About our panel:
Hannah Tzimokas - 2020 Victorian Lifeguard of the Year
Hannah has been an active member of Woolamai Beach SLSC for 11 years, and currently sits on their board of directors under the profile of Leadership Development. Hannah has worked as a Beach and Events Lifeguard since 2015 and in 2018 she took on the role of Chief Lifeguard of the Bass Area. Hannah is the current Victorian Lifeguard of the Year.
Hannah was a Building Leaders Scholar in 2018 where she helped deliver IRB driver training and helped refine local leaders and instructors’ delivery of vital beach management skills and advanced aquatic rescue techniques. In 2019 Hannah returned as a mentor where she worked to assist the scholars to reach their personal development goals and training outcomes.
Hannah is passionate about female development and currently runs a female development group at Woolamai Beach SLSC. Hannah and aims to encourage upcoming females in lifesaving through mentorship, guidance and support.
Nancy Joseph - Chair of SLSA’s Development Advisory Committee
Nancy is a long-standing member of the lifesaving movement, with her service to lifesaving spanned many years at club, state and national level. Her involvement at Fairhaven SLSC has included positions of Chief Instructor, Club Captain, Vice President and Secretary.
Nancy was previously a non-executive director on the board of Life Saving Victoria. In this role, she was influential in developing and implementing leadership development programs, including the Building Leaders Scholarship and Female Leadership Network.
In 2011 Nancy was awarded the Graeme Long Memorial Medal - Victorian Volunteer of the Year and the DHL Australian Volunteer of the Year for her volunteer contributions to SLS. In 2017, Nancy was awarded Life Membership of Life Saving Victoria and in 2019 awarded Life Membership of Surf Life Saving Australia.
Nancy is currently the Chair of SLSA’s Development Advisory Committee and Club of the Year selection panel. Nancy is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences to impart and empower others to achieve their dreams.
Rachel Engelhardt - Member Engagement and Health Club Team Leader, Glen Eira Leisure
Rachel is an energetic and results driven leader with a passion for people and creating an inclusive culture. Mentoring emerging leaders and igniting their potential, is the source of her energy.
Working in a variety of roles across the Sports and Leisure industry and public sector for a decade has provided Rachel with experience, learnings and opportunities to identify what makes individuals tick. She loves identifying the best ways to motivate and assist individuals in the areas of leadership, wellbeing and innovation. Currently a Co-Mentor for Glen Eira City Council’s Local Government Professionals Victoria Management Challenge team, after leading the 2019 team to success at the state-wide challenge.
Rachel’s humanistic nature will provide you the opportunity to ask questions about the Aquatic and Leisure industry and your individual leadership style. Above all, Rachel is passionate about creating meaningful connections to lead others on their professional and personal journey.
