AIPI Victorian Breakfast Chapter meeting THURS 24 June 2021 - 7:30 to 9am
Evidence to misconduct bodies, inquests and commissions of inquiry - Preparation, Pitfalls and Performance presented by Ben Ihle S.C.
Proudly sponsored by Stopline
Ben will discuss:
How to respond to Royal Commissions, Inquiries or regulatory investigations into matters concerning your work or that with which you have been professionally concerned.
- Complying with compulsory processes - terms of reference, scope of response and the abrogation of legal privileges and confidentiality.
- Generating documents - witness statements, summaries and memoranda. Things to keep an eye on, what to include, what rights you and your clients have.
- Preparing to give evidence - what you should do, know and, importantly, avoid.
Ben Ihle S.C. is an experienced barrister with a diverse practice traversing many areas of law. Primarily, he focuses on those areas where regulatory and criminal law intersect. He has represented individuals, corporations and government entities in misconduct commissions and before bodies of inquiry.
Informed by his experience, and drawing upon the perspectives of his many and varied roles within the inquisitorial arena, Ben will speak to the AIPI membership about how to navigate the sometimes unfamiliar, and often perilous terrain of
regulatory and misconduct investigations, inquests and commissions of inquiry
