Water Falling Down by Mark Swivel
The Uki Moon Theatre Team are very excited to be presenting Mark Swivel’s two-hander play Water Falling Down, directed by Penny Irving. It is based on Mark’s real life personal experiences, where he and his ageing father travel to Europe. The father suffers with a form of dementia – aphasia – where he can’t remember names of things, and the son fills in the gaps. As the two travel through parts of Europe, the son continually reaches out to his father for answers, love and understanding. This play has a tender heart.
Water Falling Down was originally produced by Queensland Theatre Company in 2010.
Notes From the Director
Mark Swivel’s play really spoke to me. My siblings and I recently put our mother into aged care as Mum had the onset of dementia. I connected with what the father and son in Water Falling Down were going through.
My mum passed away after nine weeks of us putting her into care. They were not easy times, as she was very distressed and confused about being taken from her home.
It is an emotional journey that many of us will identify with!
Mark will be doing a Q&A. Date to be confirmed.
