In this necessary training, learn how to create safer environments for children. ChildSafe have partnered with Jayneen Sanders and Educate 2 Empower Publishing, to deliver some excellent resources and training in the area of body safety and consent. ChildSafe are committed to training educators how to teach and empower children to understand the '5 body safety rules' to protect children from harm and abuse.
This 2 hour workshop will cover:
- child sexual abuse: characteristics and statistics
- grooming
- what is body safety and why we teach it
- body safety skills, lesson plans and resources
- disclosure
Part of the body safety lesson plans, outlines the importance of building a trusted safety network for children. ChildSafe feel that it is critically important for educators, who often spend the most time with the children, to be able to talk about body safety with them.
*Teacher/educator packs
This workshop will be set up with 5 educators per table. During the workshop only, each table will be given access to explore the teacher/educator pack. Educators will learn how to use the resources in the pack to easily embed body safety education into the curriculum.
Ideally educators should have one teacher/educator pack at the service where they work. Services can purchase their own pack before or after this workshop if required.
The resource packs cost $180 and includes lesson plans on the '5 body safety rules', a wide variety of books, posters, cards, activity books, digital resources and more.
There are PRESCHOOL and PRIMARY SCHOOL packs available to purchase. If you would like to purchase a pack, then please select this option when booking. Call Cathie Wills on 9294 5740 with any questions.
Free parenting information session
A ‘whole of community approach’ is needed to keep children safe, so Council is also hosting a free parenting information session on Thursday 3 March 2022, which will be held online.
Parents and carers will learn what body safety education is and how they can support their children at home so the learning continues.
