Local History TALK – Carlton During World War Two (SOLD OUT)
Carlton, like the rest of Melbourne, was severely affected by the Second World War. Particularly affected were Carlton’s Jewish community as news reached them of concentration camps, and the Italian community who suddenly found themselves classed as ‘enemy agents’. In this illustrated presentation by historian Jeff Atkinson you will hear of the impact this and the threat of invasion, residents leaving for service, and shortages had on the local community.
