Through the Garden Gates 2021
This year Friends' offer a self-drive tour of four wonderful gardens, three coastal and one rural showing diversity and clever ideas to adapt at home. BYO picnic lunch, or choose from local cafes, finishing with a delicious afternoon tea at Gherang along with a plant stall.
Starting in Jan Juc, Garden 1: Peggy Muntz and Family garden: 2.5 acres with coastal natives, feature trees being original ironbarks, bellarine yellow gums, messmate. Landscaped areas for Vegies and fruit, Berry garden, Flower garden and a Labyrinth based on the inside pattern of the Chartres cathedral.
Garden 2: Rosemary and Stan Boston: 3.5acres . The long driveway leads to Natives interspersed with a Rose garden, Succulent garden, Salvias, Grevilleas, Proteas and open lawn with sweeping views across the ocean.
Garden 3: Emma Flick's 'Desa' is a 3000sqm block featuring extensive container grown fruit and vegetables, mature natives and a highlight being a Bare Foot sensory area called a Reflexology Path.
Finishing in Gherang, Garden 4: David and Amanda Vernon and David's mother are passionate about this rural garden, featuring many and varied established exotic and native trees and shrubs, many underplanted with flowering garden beds. In other areas , smaller natives, ground covers and a vegie garden with beautiful home built features.
FGBG Memebers $30, Non-members $40. Booking close Thursday October 21.
Please note, it is a requirement that participants of this event are double vaccinated.
