Perth Launch of "One Potoroo: A Story of Survival"
Join Gilbert's Potoroo Action Group and Dr Tony Friend, DBCA Research Associate for the Perth launch of 'One Potoroo: A Story of Survival' by Penny Jaye. The book is for young children and is delightfully illustrated by Alicia Rogerson. It tells the story of Gilbert's Potoroo, the world's rarest marsupial, and was inspired by the real life events surrounding the rescue of a potoroo after a catastrophic bushfire destroys its home.
The event will include a reading of the book by GPAG Chair, Dr Alan Needham, followed by an informal discussion with Dr Tony Friend about his personal experience of the 2015 fire at Two Peoples Bay and its aftermath, including the rescue of surviving potoroos. The event will also include a colouring competition and 'Find the Potoroos' image search activity for the kids.
Books will be available for purchase at the event with a substantial percentage of the purchase price going to GPAG to help save Gilbert's Potoroo!
A light afternoon tea will be provided.
