Walk the Talk for Conquer Cystic Fibrosis 2022 (CANCELLED)
To help us raise as much money as possible, we encourage all walkers to register on our Give Now page. Here you will be able to create your own individual fundraising page with personal photos and include your own story about why you are doing the walk. This will allow your family and friends to support you and make a donation on your behalf to Conquer Cystic Fibrosis. When you register your Crowdraiser please use the “Walk the Talk” title on your page title with your name. (e.g. Rita’s Walk the Talk for CCF).
All the money you raise will fund vital CF related research. As a
Kaila was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 3 months of age. At 25, Kaila’s health deteriorated, and she was placed on the organ recipient list. It was heartbreaking to watch Kaila struggle to breathe, talk and walk over the next 2 long years until finally she received the call and she received her new lungs. Kaila's husband Matt was by her side throughout her transplant and the days, weeks, and months to follow. Matt himself was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth and unfortunately endured many health issues while he was growing up. In 2014 he was also placed on the transplant list and received the call for his new lungs 3 days later.
Following his transplant Matt was busy with his personal training business. He had also just started his own gardening business when rather quickly he started to feel unwell. After Matt's admission to hospital his condition deteriorated further. Tragically he passed away on 30th March 2018. Matt was just 29 years of age.
We hope that this walk will help to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and the importance of organ donation. Our ultimate goal is to encourage more people to sign up to donate their organs on the Donate Life registry and have that important conversation with family members about their wishes.
The safety of all walkers, volunteers and the wider community is our absolute priority at Conquer Cystic Fibrosis and therefore the walk has been organised as a COVID-19 safe event. As a result, in order to participate in the walk, all walkers aged 16 years and over must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be able to provide proof of vaccination at registration.
This requirement is in line with the Public Health Order issued by the Government of Western Australia.
Mandatory contact registration and increased hygiene measures will be in place and will also apply to this event.
We appreciate your compliance and understanding on this matter.
