Canberra Strings present Mendelssohn’s Octet. Written as a gift for his music teacher when Mendelssohn was just 16, the octet has deservedly become a firm favourite in the chamber music repertoire. Mendelssohn’s captivating melodic writing and skilful interweaving of the eight instrumental voices has delighted audiences since its premiere in 1836. Canberra Strings is a group of some of the region’s leading professional musicians, dedicated to the performance of string chamber music.
