Date & time
Having a Will is very important. It ensures the people who matter most in your life are taken care of. Without a Will, your estate is distributed according to a legal formula. This might mean your assets don’t end up being distributed according to your wishes.
That’s why The Salvation Army’s Wills Days are so important.
We would be grateful if you would please consider leaving a Gift (bequest) in your Will to The Salvation Army to help us support those most in need in our community. Thank you
How does it work?
De Silva Hebron Barristers & Solicitors are kindly assisting by donating their time to help people prepare a Simple Will. A Simple Will, for example, is one that leaves the person’s estate to their spouse, children, and one or more charities. The Solicitor will be able to advise whether your Will is simple, and if not, they can advise you and you might have to pay an additional cost to have it written.
The cost (not tax-deductible) for a Simple Will is $100 per person or $150 for a couple plus online booking fee of $0.50. These proceeds are utilised by The Salvation Army to support a social welfare program in the Darwin community.
The appointment is with a qualified Solicitor who will review your completed form and ask for any additional information.
Duration of appointments is 30 minutes.
Do I need to bring ID with me?
Yes, please bring proof of identification.
Do I have to leave a gift (bequest) to The Salvation Army?
While there is no obligation to leave a gift to The Salvation Army, we would greatly appreciate you doing this to enable us to support more people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, addiction and other causes of stress and anxiety. Please see how bequests change lives and change lives with a gift in your Will.
Do I need to appoint The Salvation Army as the Executor of my estate?
No, there is no requirement to do this.
What is the Honoured Friend Program?
By leaving a gift in your Will to The Salvation Army you will be joining a group of like-minded individuals who, like yourself, are committed to ensuring that the kindness and compassion you have lived by will go on helping others now and in the future. You’ll have the option to leave your Will with The Salvation Army for safe-keeping.
When you let us know that you have included The Salvation Army in your Will, we would like to honour your kindness and generosity. You will be welcomed as an Honoured Friend. You will receive invitations to special functions, tours and access to many of the programs we run for the Australian community, and it is up to you if you wish to attend.
