ADFAS Brisbane Interest Day - The Shakers of North America
John Ericson brings us "The Shakers of North America-Their Beliefs, Architecture and Artworks"
This Interest Day tells the extraordinary story of the Shakers of North America, exploring their origins, beliefs, what they believed and how they lived their lives within these parameters. Examples of their wonderful buildings and simple elegant furniture are examined. It is only with such an understanding of their devout faith and way of life that we can begin to appreciate their intriguing legacy.
Formerly a lecturer at the University of Bath, John was the Director of Studies in the School of Education. John has been a popular speaker on the Arts Society circuit in the UK and Europe as well as a frequent visitor to societies in Australia and New Zealand.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided on the day.
