ADFAS Brisbane: The World of Grayson Perry
Ian Swankie introduces us to 'Pots and Frocks - The World of Grayson Perry from Essex Punk Potter to Superstar National Treasure'
Now for a challenge, our final lecture, let’s view the modern, the now.
Best known for his outlandish appearances dressed as his feminine alter ego, Grayson Perry is now a core part of the art establishment, winning many of the major Art Prizes. He’s possibly one of the world’s best-known contemporary artists. His works in ceramics, textiles, tapestries, and prints are highly sought after. Often controversial, he tackles difficult subjects in a poignant yet witty way and holds a mirror up to society.
Ian is a native Londoner, who works as a guide and lecturer with a special interest in art and architecture. Ian is also an official guide at Tate Modern and Tate Britain, St Paul's Cathedral and the Guildhall Art Gallery.
Bring a guest.
Morning Tea provided at the Library.
