Our first Women’s Climate Conversation online for 2023 will explore the recent historic ruling of the Queensland Land Court to recommend against the massive Galilee Basin Waratah coal project on the grounds that the mine would contribute to climate change impacts which would limit: the right to life; the cultural rights of First Nations peoples; the rights of children; the right to property and to privacy and home. and the right to enjoy human rights equally. WCC Founder Dr Janet Salisbury will be on conversation with Environmental Defenders Office lead solicitor and WCC Director Alison Rose; The Bimblebox Alliance Secretary, Patricia Julien; Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait) Traditional Owner; Lala Gutcehn and Youth Verdict First Nations program lead Murrawah Johnson to hear about the ground breaking aspects of this case and how these relate to the WCC Charter for Change.NOTE: This event is at 7.30-8.30 pm AEDT (Canberra/Sydney); 6.30-7.30 pm AEST (QLD); please check your own time zone
