Terms and Conditions  −  Border Music Camp Application 2022

Acceptance to Camp
Payment of fees does not ensure acceptance. All applications will be reviewed and assessed by the Director and the Border Music Camp Committee.

Placement in ensembles
Musicians are assigned to the morning ensembles through the audition process. Students move from junior to senior positions within and between the morning ensembles in line with their musical development, through regular music lessons and ensemble experience. Assignment of musicians to ensembles is at the discretion of the Director and the Committee.

Instruments catered for
Border Music Camp caters for instruments played in standard configurations of symphony orchestras and symphonic wind ensembles:
• flute and piccolo
• oboe and cor anglais
• clarinet (all types)
• saxophone (all types)
• bassoon
• horn
• trumpet
• trombone
• euphonium, tenor horn, tenor tuba and baritone
• tuba
• percussion (including timpani)
• violin
• viola
• cello
• double bass
We regret it is impossible to cater for guitar, recorder, piano or harp, but we invite students of these instruments to audition for percussion. Percussion students must be at least Grade 3 AMEB in their regular instrument (e.g. recorder, piano, guitar, harp).

Restrictions on certain instruments
For some very popular instruments, we have set a maximum number of places for each ensemble. These instruments include (but are not limited to) flute, trumpet and percussion. Admission of these instruments is in order of receipt of application. We maintain a waiting list in case of withdrawals, but we urge you to apply early.

Restrictions on accommodation and boarding
Dormitory accommodation is limited. Applicants who live in the Albury/Wodonga (2640/3690) area are not eligible for boarding.
The Scots School has recently refurbished their boarding houses and because of this there are very limited places for boarding. All students in 2022 will have an individual room.
Due to limited availability of rooms, to be eligible for boarding in 2022 you must be in Year 8 – 12 at school at the time of camp, and under 18 years of age.
You will be notified one month prior to camp commencement if your application for boarding has been successful.

Minimum ages
The minimum age for Morning Only students is eight years as at the start of Camp. There is no maximum age for Camp.
We suggest Short Day and Long Day students should be at least ten years old.
Due to limited availability of rooms, to be eligible for boarding in 2022 you must be in Year 8 – 12 at school at the time of camp, and under 18 years of age.

Photography, videoing, filming, and the use of mobile phones and electronic devices, are not permitted during concerts, or any rehearsals, or timetabled activities. This is because of concerns about interruptions to performances, copyright, consent, privacy and duty of care.
A Camp photographer has been appointed, and these photos are available to parents and students at a reasonable cost.

Because of the group nature of the Camp activities, it is necessary for all students to attend all timetabled sessions included in the package for which they have paid. In particular, all Campers must attend concert rehearsals on the final Saturday of Camp.
Camp opening
On the Sunday on which Camp commences, all Campers are required to:
• register (from 12:00 noon);
• attend an audition (from noon onwards);
