Struggling theatre director Martin Quincannon finally gets his big break on the West End by snaring renowned actor Richard Pryce, but Pryce promptly goes and dies before the first rehearsal. Enter his twin brother Karl, a degenerate gambler and drinker, who must now save his departed brother's legacy by taking his place in the play. Small problem... Karl has never set foot on a stage in his life.
