  • During this 2-hour practical lab the students will learn about collision theory and investigate factors that influence the rate of a reaction. Year 11 level.   • Tues 17, 24 Sep and 15 Oct from 10am-1pm
    This workshop consists of three 3-hour sessions. During each session the students will learn about one of Newton's laws. The level is year 11/12 physics. Students need to bring their own tablet or laptop as the course material is online and facilitated by the tutor. Suitable for ages 13+.   • The Waihi mine educational officer offers a 2-hour programme where the students get to do lots of hands-on activities while learning about the Waihi mine where mainly gold and silver are produced. In addition to this educational session there is a one-hour visit to Spike’s bricks and models. Spike has a huge display of lego, more than 4 large rooms full, as well as an interactive RC lego cars activity. Cost: $8 pp for ages 6 and up including adults Free for children under 6

    This 6-hour lab course covers a large part of the chemistry practical skills from years 9/10. No prior skills or knowledge required. Content: safety in the lab, the Bunsen burner, separation techniques, chemical reactions, making and testing 3 common gases, pH scale, acids and bases, indicators. For ages 12-17.
