Welcome to Lower Hutt Parents Centre, where parenting is everything. We are a group of parents helping new parents in our community. Lower Hutt Parents Centre is a voluntary-led, not-for-profit organisation who provide high quality Childbirth Education Classes (Antenatal Classes), Baby & You Classes and other Parent Education Classes for Hutt Valley families.

Pregnancy and parenthood can be an exciting but daunting time! We are here to help. Our comprehensive Antenatal Classes lead by qualified Childbirth Educators will help you prepare for labour, birth and the early days with a newborn. Each Childbirth Education course runs for six weeks, one evening per week, from 6.45pm - 9.15pm. From time to time a 'weekend intensive' course which runs for two full days is held on consecutive Saturdays. The course covers: • Nutrition and exercise during pregnancy • Labour signs and stagesWe • Pain relief options and interventions • The birth process • Breastfeeding and newborn care • Transition to Parenthood and practical parenting • A tour of Hutt Hospital maternity unit, either physical or virtual tour Course costs $220 (including booking fee) This includes - Attendance for two people at the sessions - A one year membership to Lower Hutt Parents Centre

Infant CPR with the New Zealand Red Cross

Ideal for parents, caregivers, babysitters and those wanting to brush up on CPR skills. This is a hands on class and covers: Primarily CPR and choking prevention Drowning scenarios And if time- how to deal with other emergency situations (like burns, allergic reactions, poisonings and bangs on the head) The process involved with calling 111 Classes are held at the River of Life Centre at 774 Hight Street and begins at 6 30pm.
