Riversdale Arts runs a series of workshops during our exhibition period each July as well as other times during the year from our Art Rooms situated in Newcastle Street Riversdale.
Riversdale Arts 51st Mixed Media Exhibition

Celebrating its 51st exhibition this year, Riversdale Arts Inc. collaborates with national & local artists from within NZ to host our large annual Mixed Media Exhibition. A festival of activities runs alongside the Exhibition, including artist-led workshops, an Emerging Artist award, a community school exhibition space, Yum cafe, & Giftshop stocked with artists' bespoke pieces.
The Gala Evening opens the Exhibition, & is the premier opportunity to purchase, mingle, & meet the featuring Artists.

Cheesemaking with Clare Ryan

Clare is running a workshop where students will make a delicious bomb proof Camembert and ricotta to take home and practice making butter, various other dairy products such as sour cream and yoghurt and cover the basics of other cheeses like mozzarella and feta, learning to make these staples is a fantastic skill in the world we are currently living in. All materials provided - wear an apron or old clothes.

Kokedama Balls with Anna King

In this workshop participants will make Kokedama Balls - Kokedama, translated “moss ball,” is a Japanese form of garden art. Simple yet elegant, it's made by wrapping a plant's roots with soil, sphagnum moss and string. Participants will need to bring their own succulent-style plants to use. You will make 2-3 balls. All other materials are provided.

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. Learn the techniques with Janet de Wagt whilst exploring locations in the area. Each session will be going to different places to paint. If the weather is terrible techniques for painting outside will be taught indoors, with the option of working in sheltered areas outside of artrooms.

Sat 9 July – two ½ day workshops. Make some gorgeous earrings for yourself or as gifts. Participants will come away with at least 2 pairs of earrings and if proficient they may make more. The fee includes materials for the two pairs. Take this short class and have great fun exploring your creativity, while making beautiful earrings, at least one pair in sterling silver and one in copper and learn some essential jewellery skills.
