Barista Short Course (Taradale) - 2025

Monday 8 December 2025
Learn about the history of coffee, how to operate and maintain espresso machines, get hands-on practical training for all coffee styles, and an introduction to customer service skills. Please note this is an introduction to Barista. Learners must be 16 years or older. This is run over 2 evenings, starting at 6pm to 9pm the first evening and 6pm to 8pm the second evening.

Between Monday 9 February 2026 and Wednesday 25 November 2026

LCQ (Hawke's Bay) - Taradale 2026

Between Thursday 5 March 2026 and Thursday 22 October 2026
(Liquor) License Controllers Qualification NZQA Unit Standards - A must before you apply for your bar manager's license with the council. By law, every hospitality business that sells alcohol must have a qualified person in charge at all times. After completing the Licence Controllers Qualification (LCQ) you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the responsibilities and requirements for the service of alcohol in licensed premises. Must attend both days.

Certificate in Food Safety (Hastings) - 2026

Tuesday 14 April 2026
The EIT Certificate in Food Safety helps attendees understand how to keep food safe and customers from getting food-borne illnesses. The course meets Napier and Hastings Council requirements as a Food Worker in any hospitality business. The course works through the Food Control Plan and all the forms you would be using on a shift to ensure food is safe and meeting compliance requirements. This is a 2 day course, starting at 9am to 3pm both days.

Food Safety (Tairawhiti Campus) - 2026

Between Tuesday 14 April 2026 and Tuesday 6 October 2026
This course offers the participants essential training on all things related to food safety, such as hand hygiene, personal hygiene, cleaning, food allergies, hazardous food, preventing cross contamination and much more.

Junior Chef - 2026

Between Tuesday 7 July 2026 and Wednesday 30 September 2026
Students must be at secondary school. (This course may be available via the STAR/Gateway Program at your School. Please contact your STAR Coordinator at your School for information before you book a place online. Limited spots available.) This course is run over two days and will be confirmed prior. (May be subject to change due to numbers.)
