    Support Warkworth Music - become a member and enjoy the benefit of reduced concert ticket prices. Annual Membership - $30 p.p. As a member you can purchase your concert ticket at the reduced price of $25 per ticket per concert (the regular ticket price is $35). Please note that the reduced price applies only to the ticket purchased for the named member. Membership Cards will be held at the Member's ticket desk for collection. A Season Ticket includes annual membership ($30) and tickets for all 7 concerts at the reduced price of $20 per concert (the regular ticket price is $35). Season tickets are transferable.     The New Zealand String Quartet is New Zealand’s leading chamber ensemble, with a distinguished record of international touring success and a body of acclaimed recordings. With Helene Pohl (violin I), Monique Lapins (violin II), Gillian Ansell (viola) and Rolf Gjelsten (cello) the New Zealand String Quartet open Warkwoth Music's 2023 concert series with a programme that includes Schubert's "Rosamundi", Shostakovich's String Quartet no 1 and Haydn's "Emperor".

    Les Voisins (‘Neighbours’) comprises Justine Cormack (violin), James Bush (cello) and Juan Carlos de Mulder (theorbo & guitars). The programme is a journey through three centuries of French music from the Baroque to Ravel's impressionism and then on to the swing of guitarist Django Reinhardt and jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli with the “Hot Club de France”.

  • Sunday 28 May 2023
    The internationally acclaimed New Zealand pianist Stephen de Pledge performs Bach’s G minor English Suite and Mozart’s dramatic Sonata in C minor. The programme also includes 12 new Etudes written by some of New Zealand’s most respected composers, the Sketches of Amy Beach and Manuel de Falla’s famous Ritual Fire Dance.

    Renowned soloists Mark Menzies (violin and viola) and Michael Endres (piano) come together to perform cornerstone works of the violin and piano repertoire, Beethoven's 'Kreutzer' Sonata, Schubert's Rondo Brillant and Schnittke's Violin Sonata No. 2, plus a new work, Mono no aware, by Salina Fisher.

    This Wellington based quartet comprises some of Aotearoa's best known and most impressive jazz musicians - Ben Wilcock (piano), Tristan Carter (violin), Daniel Yeabsley (bass) and John Rae (percussion). As an ensmble these musicians deliver the most dynamic voice and melodic clarity while staying true to their jazz roots. Expect impressive improvisations and refreshing new arrangements of jazz standards.

    Award winning musicians Andrew Beer, violin, and Sarah Watkins, piano, are joined by colleagues from the APO - principal violist Robert Ashworth and sub-principal cellist Chen Cao. The programme includes Mozart's Piano quartet no 1, Frank Bridge's Phantasie Quartet and Dvorak's Piano Quartet no 2.

    The Calathea Quartet is a fresh new ensemble of dynamic musicians - Claudia Tarrant Matthews (violin), Eleanor Hill (violin), Martha Campbell (viola) and Haydn Wynn (cello) - who are fast gaining a reputation on the international scene. The programme includes Mozart's String Quartet no 21, Imogen Holst's Phantasy Quartet and Shostakovich's String Quartet no 5.
