Letting go of "perfect"
About
Kia Tū Māia Counselling Department will be facilitating our next free whānau workshop for parents and caregivers:Date: Monday 9th March
Time: 6.30 - 8pm in the Wellington High School - Riley Centre
Many young people feel intense pressure to achieve, perform, and “get it right.” Although striving to achieve our goals can be helpful, perfectionism can also create anxiety, self-criticism, and low mood. This workshop will draw from local and international research to build an understanding of how perfectionism develops and how perfectionism is linked to youth wellbeing. We will then focus on different ways perfectionism can show up within young people's lives, including for rangatahi Māori. Lastly, we will explore different ways to reduce unhelpful perfectionistic behaviours, considering how whānau can help foster self-compassion and balanced achievement for their young person.
