Aroha Music Society, in partnership with Chamber Music New Zealand, presents the newly formed Elouan Quartet, comprising NZSO musicians: Jessica Oddie, Violin; Anna van der Zee, Violin; Alexander McFarlane, Viola; and Ken Ichinose, Cello who will be joined by NZSO principal flautist Bridget Douglas for this selection of lively and lyrical performances.Programme -Mata-Au journeys through rivers, twilight, and folk rhythms – pairing Amy Beach and Arthur Foote’s Romantic lyricism with Salina Fisher’s river-inspired Mata-Au, Ginastera’s lively Impresiones de la Puna, and Beethoven’s timeless String Quartet No. 6 in B-flat major.
Folk Tales and Folk Tunes explores storytelling and folk influences, from Elena Kats-Chernin’s Night and Now and Mozart’s graceful Flute Quartet, to Bartók’s driving Quartet No.4, Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango, and Ken Wilson’s witty Introduction, Theme & Variations.
