Year 11 (IGCSE) chemistry - weekly Zoom class - unit 2
This tutoring class is aimed at students who intend to take the extended chemistry exam at the end of 2027 or for students wanting to enrol with Te Kura at a later stage as this course will provide an excellent grounding for NCEA level 2.
Students will need to do their own self-study supported by the weekly Zoom sessions. They will need to buy a text book.
In total there will be 6 units to cover the full IGCSE syllabus.
Unit 1: States of matter, atoms and elements (term 1, 2026)
Unit 2: Chemical reactions, moles, redox, electrolysis (term 2, 2026)
Unit 3: Enthalpy, rate of reaction, equilibrium, the Periodic Table (term 3, 2026)
Unit 4: Acids and bases, salts, separation, experimental tests (term 4, 2026)
Unit 5: Metals, chemistry of the environment (term 1, 2027)
Unit 6: Organic chemistry, polymers (term 2, 2027)
Wednesdays, 9:45am to 10:45am
10 sessions: 29 April to 1 July 2026
Term fee: $200
