The Pastel Ball | International Dance Day Celebrations (SOLD OUT)
About
The Pastel Ball is a portal to a world of soft light, shared movement, and kind connection, a few hours where colours blend at the edges and people meet one another through dance. Brief, generous encounters ask only presence and curiosity.Presented by Balfolk Dunedin, the dances draw from the Balfolk and English Country Dance traditions: circles, lines, and partner formations that change and re-form, inviting playful flow and easy connection. Each dance is taught and led on the spot, so everyone can join in, with or without a partner. Steps are simple, and the joy lies in shared movement rather than performance.
The Grand March begins at 8:00 pm, opening the Ball with a sense of celebration.
Dress code: soft.
Pastels and quiet tones are warmly welcomed, but if pastel isn’t your style, think instead of texture and lightness. Wear something that feels gentle: soft fabric, quiet colours, perhaps a pocket square, a tie, a scarf or a linen shirt. It’s not about costume, but about dressing in a way that does not fight the room.
The Pastel Ball isn’t formal or performative, it is a relaxed and inclusive evening for anyone who loves movement, community, and the simple pleasure of dancing together.
