The Society for Alloy Research and Applications is bringing together world leading industry leaders and academics in it's inaugural conference. Formerly Casting Technology NZ (CTNZ), SARPA's aim is to promote the manufacture and application of alloys across a broad range of industries.

The theme for the conference is Nucleation - which signifies the beginning of a new entity SARPA, bringing new ideas and people together for a new start.

TECHNICAL PROGRAM

An exciting technical program is planned and will be headed by two Keynote Speakers:

Dr Daniel Miracle

Daniel is a Senior Scientist in the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory. He contributes to the quality, balance and focus of the AFRL technical program and the technical workforce through interactions with the AFRL Research Advisory Council, which is responsible for defining strategies, policies and workforce development for a staff of more than 3400 scientists and engineers. He represents technologies of interest to the U.S. Air Force and leads formation of technical partnerships through interactions within the Department of Defense, with other government agencies, and with universities, industry and the international scientific community. As a senior technical leader, Dr. Miracle represents the Department of Defense in the formation of technical alliances within the United States and with other governments.

Derek Warner

Derek is an engineering professor here at University of Canterbury. Derek Warner joined the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury in 2023. Prior to this, he was a Professor at Cornell University where he directed the Cornell Fracture Group and served as the Interim Director of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Derek’s academic training consisted of a postdoc in the Solid Mechanics Group at Brown University and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. During the 2013 and 2020 academic years, Derek was a Visiting Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. Currently he has a PhD project with Hamilton Jet in its launch phase.
