Understanding Gender Diversity and Supporting Rainbow Rangat

This workshop will provide a brief overview of gender diversity, with a focus on the age and stage of gender-diverse rangatahi who attend WHS. It will cover gender development, expression, identity, incongruence and dysphoria.The workshop will also discuss gender-affirming options (social and/or medical) available to young people up to 18 years old in the Wellington region. Most importantly, it will explore how to best support your gender-diverse rangatahi and/or their peers.
The last 20 minutes will provide the opportunity for a Q&A session.
The presenters all specialise in gender-affirming healthcare:
Dr Kayla Mackie, Clinical Psychologist for Paediatric Endocrinology (under 16 years)
Dr Rona Carrol, GP specialising in gender-affirming healthcare
Jemima Bullock, Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Endocrinology (16+ years)
This workshop is limited to parents and caregivers of current WHS rangatahi. It is an in person workshop only. The presentation will be shared with participants after the event.
