Christchurch band Kameleon may struggle a bit with spelling, but they sure know how to make music. The four members of Kameleon began their musical collaboration back in the 90s, as members of jazz/covers band Tuxedo Junction. After TJ reached its natural conclusion in 1998, the band members continued to cross paths over the years, both as friends and musical collaborators. In 2025, someone had the crazy idea of getting the band back together, and a below-the-radar comeback gig for family and friends convinced everyone that the spark was still there.

With a new name, new energy, and some great new material, Kameleon are ready to share their love of music with a patiently waiting world. The band brings together the considerable musical experience and talents of Michelle Jackson (lead vocals, keyboard and flute), Brett Painter (drums and percussion), Paul Thompson (bass guitar), and Rob Allan (guitar and vocals). Folk Club members who have been paying attention may recognise Michelle from Dee Street Band, and Rob from The Remnants and Saltwater Creek. With musical CVs spanning several pages, these four musicians are committed to playing great songs with the highest standards of professionalism and musicality (except when they screw up).

Like the reptile that has kindly allowed them to use its name, Kameleon is a band of many hues, with songs that span several genres including Jazz, Blues, Folk, Pop, and Soul, but probably not Country & Western. Artists you'll hear covered at a Kameleon gig include Tuck & Patti, Sting, Eli Goulding, Extreme, Sting, Stan Getz, Van Morrison - and did we mention Sting? We can't promise you'll love everything you hear, but we can guarantee you won't be bored. If you're into good music performed with love and care, Kameleon will send you home with a smile on your face.

VENUE: Irish Society Hall, 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon The hall is situated up the long driveway, directly next to Domain Park, and there is plenty of well-lit off-street parking.

Doors open 7pm. Performance starts at 7.30pm - online bookings will close 2 hours prior to the event start time.  After this time only door sales will be available on the night and will be dependant on the number of seats available in line with the Hall capacity.

LIMITED DOOR SALES AVAILABLE IF ONLINE SALES ARE NOT SOLD OUT. 

Please note that Door Sales are CASH ONLY: Tea, coffee, biscuits and cake available during the break, also bar facilities for cold refreshments throughout the night, Eftpos available at the bar for purchases only, no cash-out facility.

Folk Club and Irish Society members please remember to bring your membership card for licensing purposes. Non-members sign in at the bar if making purchases.
